Reference Reading Room. There are many books which have been collected over the years that have become important references. These include books on the early history of Ballarat and district mining records that chronicle the passage of  time. Some of these volumes are very valuable, as well as being fragile, and so there may be limited access to the reference collection. or the Interactive database here.

Newspaper Records. The extensive collection of newspapers are available for use in the reading room for research and  are mostly for limited use only. A small fee is charged for this service, and it is preferred that a prior request is made for particular volumes. Some are stored at a another location in the building and our library staff will bring them to the reading room.

Book Sales. Now and again the collection is reviewed and some surplus, duplicate or non-current titles are made available to collectors and members. Most of these are still in good condition and worthy of inspection. There are  titles from all categories, including both fiction and non-fiction.
See our Book Sale page for listings.
